The CUNY Sociodemographics Map of New York City was a year-long endeavor to study the campuses throughout the City University of New York (CUNY) system to see how the sociodemographics of the communities located around each campus relate to the student populations at each of the individual colleges throughout the system.
Data on the student population was analyzed from the CUNY Office of Institutional Research and Assessment. Data on the communities around each campus was aggregated using a proximity buffer analysis in GIS. Community data comes from the U.S. Census American Community Survey.
Maps were created in ArcGIS. Graphics were created in PowerPoint and Adobe Illustrator. The interactive map available on the web was built in WordPress using MapsMarker Pro.
